Driver license and age
Driver license requirements, minimum age rules and what documents to bring for your rental.
Bring your original, valid driving licence for the correct vehicle category. A foreign domestic licence that meets the 1968 Vienna Convention format is accepted for temporary driving in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
When an IDP is needed
The licence details must be written in Latin characters or repeated or transliterated into Latin characters. If your domestic licence does not meet that format, bring a valid International Driving Permit issued by an authorised body together with the original licence.
Important
- An IDP is supplementary and is never valid by itself
- Photocopies and mobile-only driving licences are not accepted at pick-up
- Contact ETERNAL before booking if the holder details, vehicle category or expiry date are not clear in Latin characters
Add an additional driver before pick-up while creating your reservation on the ETERNAL website — free of charge, and the additional driver must be present at pick-up with their own driver's license and a valid photo ID.

- Confirm — your updated booking confirmation will be sent by email
At the branch
The additional driver must be present in person with their driver's license — either at pick-up or when being added to the rental agreement during the rental period.
What it costs
At ETERNAL, an additional driver is free, and we don't charge anything.
Requirements
- The additional driver must meet the same minimum-age requirement as the main driver
- Their original driver's licence must be valid for the selected vehicle category and accepted under the rental terms
- Only drivers listed on the rental agreement are covered under ETERNAL protection packages

ETERNAL in Bosnia and Herzegovina accepts a valid, unexpired and original driver's license that is legible and in good condition. Digital licenses, photocopies, learner's permits and licenses with breathalyzer restrictions are not accepted.
What to bring at pick-up
- Original driver's license, valid and in good condition
- A temporary, provisional or restricted document is accepted only if ETERNAL confirms it in writing after checking the document and applicable insurer requirements
International licenses
- A temporary visitor may use a valid foreign domestic licence that complies with the applicable Vienna Convention format
- Required entries must be in Latin characters or repeated/transliterated in Latin; script alone does not decide acceptance
- If the domestic licence does not meet that format, carry a valid International Driving Permit issued on the basis of it
- An IDP is supplementary, never valid alone, and must always be presented with the original domestic licence
- If the format or entries are unclear, send ETERNAL clear images before travel for a document and insurer check

- Learner's permits
- Licenses with breathalyzer restrictions
Every main and additional driver must be at least 22 years old. Drivers under 22 are not eligible under ETERNAL’s current rental and insurance terms.
Vehicle-specific requirements
Selected premium, luxury, sports or specialty vehicle groups may require the driver to be at least 25. The requirement shown for the selected vehicle and confirmed in the rental agreement applies.
